Indian cricket fans, rejoice! Rishabh Pant’s long-awaited comeback is finally on the horizon. The wicketkeeper-batter, who fractured his leg during the fourth Test against England earlier this year, is almost ready to return to action. After months of recovery and rehabilitation, Pant is now nearing full fitness, and the signs couldn’t be more promising.
Recovery Going Strong
Pant’s plaster was removed three weeks ago, and since then, the 26-year-old has shown no signs of discomfort or pain. Videos shared on his social media gave fans a glimpse of his recovery, not just light training, but even playing golf, a sign that his balance and lower-body strength are in great shape. Alongside that, photos of Pant’s training sessions have also been circulating, showing a fitter version of the dynamic wicketkeeper.
Currently, Pant is stationed at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he’s undergoing the final phase of his fitness assessment. Sources close to the board have indicated that if Pant clears the medical evaluation later this week, he will make his competitive comeback in the Ranji Trophy, representing Delhi against Himachal Pradesh on October 25.
National Comeback on the Cards
Pant’s domestic return will be a crucial step toward reclaiming his spot in the Indian team. If all goes according to plan, he will be back in the India whites for the two-Test series against South Africa, beginning November 14.
His inclusion will be a massive boost for India, especially ahead of a demanding season. In recent years, Pant has established himself as one of India’s most influential red-ball batters, fearless, inventive, and capable of turning matches on their head. From his heroics at the Gabba in 2021 to his match-winning knocks in England and South Africa, Pant’s presence has often defined India’s fighting spirit. And now, if all goes well, by mid-November, we will have him back playing at his best once again.
