An absolutely shocking case from Rajasthan has revealed how a senior government officer allegedly created 2 fake jobs for his wife and earned of ₹37 lakh without working for even a single day or going to the office.
This story goes deep down the dark sides of corruption in the government circles and shows how the system was cleverly manipulated for personal benefits.
The mastermind and two fake jobs
The main culprit is Pradhyuman Dixit, Joint Director at the Department of Information Technology and Communication in Jaipur. Dixit is said to have his wife, Poonam Dixit, registered as an “employee” in two different companies, OrionPro Solutions and Treegen Software.
Each month, Poonam fetched a fat salary of ₹1.6 lakh, and this salary included regular appraisals, bonuses, while also receiving freelance payments which were all routed through five personal accounts.
The twist: No actual work
In fact, the scam is just so incredible because Poonam never went to work and was not given any tasks. She didn't visit the office. She didn't work on any projects. So, why was she paid? For huge kickbacks! Both companies that hired her were the ones winning government tenders consistently, which makes the payment of bribes under the cover of salary payments.
Signed, sealed, delivered- By the Officer himself
To cover up the scandal, Pradhyuman Dixit personally put his signature on the attendance and performance reports of his wife. This internal approval deceived most auditors and government checks, until whistleblowers encouraged the Rajasthan High Court's intervention.
Justice steps in
After receiving a petition, the Rajasthan High Court directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to carry out a thorough investigation of the case. The ongoing investigation is revealing a whole lot of corruption that shows the officials abusing their power and exploiting systems to steal public money.
This fake job scandal not only reveals a corrupt couple but also shows a system that is vulnerable to being exploited.
The case acts as a warning to strengthen supervision and to guarantee that there is accountability in government workplaces.
