2025 has been a great year for Indian celebrities and their global appearances. From Shah Rukh Khan’s charming Met Gala debut to Aishwarya Rai’s unforgettable presence at Cannes, 2025 was the year Indian fashion took centrestage, and we are all here for it.
Let us explore some of the best moments.
Janhvi Kapoor made Indians proud at Cannes 2025 as she served two back-to-back looks. Her first attire was woven in Benaras and customised by Tarun Tahiliani. The custom-made skirt and corset were crafted from real tissue, and the texture was achieved through a hand-crushed technique, giving added depth to the rich textile. She added a layer of pearl and diamond necklaces from Chopard's Haute Joaillerie collection to complete her look.

For her second look, Kapoor wore an Anamika Khanna couture gown featuring a gold-embroidered bodice, a backless design, and a silk turquoise-green skirt with a long train on the back. She added jhumkis, ear cuffs, bangles, a gold kada, rings, and a back chain to complete her look.
Kiara Advani made her first appearance at the Met Gala, and she made all heads turn. Dressed in a sculpted Gaurav Gupta masterpiece, she epitomised the theme with a futuristic gown featuring intricate curves and a gold breastplate which was adorned with crystals and ghungroos.
Shah Rukh Khan made his mega Met Gala debut in 2025 and of course he served a look no one could really have enough of. Dressed in an all-black Sabyasachi ensemble with a subtle touch of Indian dandyism, he combined old-world charm with modern tailoring.
Speaking about the look, Sabyasachi told Vogue, “Shah Rukh Khan is one of the greatest superstars in the world. A cinematic hero, his blockbuster performances and leading-man charisma have created a legendary international fan following. My interpretation of the Black Dandy is demonstrating his stardom on a global stage.”
Aishwarya Rai, a Cannes veteran, returned in a stunning handwoven Manish Malhotra kadwa Banarasi saree. She paired the ivory Banarasi drape with heirloom high jewellery from his jewellery collection. The jewels feature over 500 carats of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds in 18-carat gold.
Closing the season with a contemporary twist was Alia Bhatt, who wore Gucci’s interpretation of the saree. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, the look featured a sleek skirt, a deep-cut blouse, and an elegant drape that paid homage to Indian tradition.
