Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Thamma is having a dream run at the box office, and the producers are clearly having the time of their lives.
After hits like Stree, Munjya and Stree 2, Maddock’s Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU) has found a new star — Thamma. Audiences are loving this latest offering from the Dinesh Vijan-led production house, and that has translated into an impressive box office collection too.
As per reports, in just 14 days since its release on 21 October, the film has earned nearly ₹142 crore at the Indian box office. That makes the movie Ayushmann Khurrana’s highest-grossing film ever in India.
With its dream run at the box office, Thamma has beaten the collections of his previous top grosser Dream Girl and the second-biggest hit of his career, Badhaai Ho. And this box office party is still not over, with trade experts saying Thamma could soon touch the ₹150 crore mark.
Celebrations with Aparshakti
Ayushmann Khurrana was recently seen celebrating the success of Thamma on social media with his brother Aparshakti Khurana. Aparshakti, who has been a part of the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe since the first instalment of the series Stree, is seen singing his famous lullaby to his elder brother in this video on Instagram.
When Ayushmann wakes up, baring his fangs, Aparshakti welcomes him to the MHCU, following which Ayushmann blesses his younger brother, who responds saying the audience is also blessing the movie at the box office, with collections rising past ₹100 crore.
Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe
The first movie of the MHCU, Rajkummar Rao-starrer Stree, was released as a standalone film. However, with the release of Varun Dhawan-starrer Bhediya, it started shaping up as a universe. The release of another Maddock superhit, Munjya, saw characters from both Stree and Bhediya appearing in the film. The same trend has followed in Stree 2 as well as Thamma.
Initially, this universe was named the Maddock Supernatural Universe; however, the title was changed with the announcement of the 2025 schedule of movies. The next movie in this line-up will be Aneet Padda-led Shakti Shalini, which is expected to release in 2026.
According to producer Dinesh Vijan, Maddock has planned a series of movies for the next five years under the MHCU.
