A shocking incident unfolded in Noida, a bustling satellite city near Delhi, when an unidentified man driving a Mahindra Thar unleashed chaos on the roads of Sector 16’s Phase 1. A viral video captured the SUV speeding through the car market, smashing into multiple vehicles, including parked bikes, and narrowly missing a bystander, sending panic rippling through the area. According to reports from credible sources like Times Now and Free Press Journal, the driver was fleeing the scene after an alleged altercation, recklessly navigating the wrong side of the road. Two men on a scooty narrowly escaped serious harm as the Thar grazed them before disappearing from the site. Thankfully, no injuries were reported despite the mayhem.

The incident, which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Phase-1 Police Station, prompted swift attention from the Uttar Pradesh Police after the footage spread across social media platforms. Noida Police confirmed via an official statement that a case has been registered, and legal action is underway, though the driver remains at large. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, assured the public that the investigation is active, with efforts intensifying to identify and apprehend the culprit. The video evidence, showing the Thar’s reckless path through Sector 16, has fueled public outrage, with many calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.

This is not the first time Noida has witnessed such vehicular recklessness. In February 2025, a similar hit-and-run near Gardens Galleria Mall left five people, including three students, seriously injured when a drunk driver sped from a parking lot, struck the group, and fled after breaking a boom barrier. Eyewitness accounts from that incident highlighted the driver’s high speed and intoxication, raising concerns about road safety in the city. The latest Thar episode echoes these dangers, spotlighting a pattern of impunity among some drivers. The Noida Police, under pressure to act, are combing through CCTV footage and witness statements to track down the Thar driver. Public sentiment, as reflected in posts on X, demands accountability, with users questioning why such incidents often involve Thar SUVs.
