Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have suddenly disappeared from the ICC ODI Batters rankings. The latest list of the top 10 batters in one-day cricket doesn't feature either of them anymore.
It was just last week ago that Rohit had jumped to the 2nd spot and Virat was holding steady at number 4 with 736 rating points. Hello ICC, they might have retired from Tests and T20Is, but both are still active in ODI cricket.
So, what’s the logic here? Did someone misplace a spreadsheet? Because according to the current rankings, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer are the only Indians left in the top 10. While Gill leads the ODI charts, retaining his position as the top batter in the format with 756 points, Iyer was at the 6th spot. Respect to them, of course, but fans are out here wondering, where did the OGs go?
Whatever this is, fans are still dreaming that Virat and Rohit will play till the 2027 ODI World Cup — but the ICC seems to be giving everyone mini heart attacks. Let’s just hope it’s a glitch and someone at ICC remembers to hit that refresh button.
Both Rohit and Virat last played an ODI for India back in February 2025, when the Men in Blue won the Champions Trophy under the Hitman. But there have been dark clouds over their future, with talks of the duo retiring doing the rounds.
ICC ODI RANKINGS - BATTING (AUGUST 13)
