The much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer, L2E: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is making a massive impact at the Indian box office on its opening day.

Fans gather in huge numbers A large number of fans arrived at theatres in Thiruvananthapuram for the film’s release on March 27, showcasing the excitement surrounding this Malayalam blockbuster.

Mohanlal on the film's scale Speaking about L2: Empuraan, Mohanlal said, "For a Malayalam film, this is a huge budget-wise. We prepared for two years. If it succeeds, it will be a big success as we call this a pan-Indian film. The story demands such locations and actors."

He added, "The story demands such kind of locations and actors. So, we are trying something big from Malayalam industry and it will be a success." On his upcoming film 'L2: Empuraan', actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran says, "I can't assure you anything, I am just hoping that it engages. I understand that expectations are very high. and I am very happy because I am also relying on those expectations for this film to open big and people to come and have that excitement over it. But I can't let those expectations drive me while making the film. So, I believe I have made a very honest film in terms of what the second part of the franchise should be. I really hope and pray that come 27th (March), you will go to theatres and watch the film and like what you see."

College announces holiday To celebrate the film’s release, Good Shepherd College in Bengaluru declared a holiday for students. A special show was also arranged at YGR Signature Mall for them.

Strong opening at the box office The film is on track to cross the ₹15 crore mark in India on Day 1. As per Track BO, Empuraan has already recorded a total India gross of ₹14.87 crore, with an overall occupancy of 52.62%. It has sold 7,95,025 tickets across 5,334 shows nationwide. Without blocked seats, the estimated advance gross stands at ₹14.15 crore, with 7,46,850 actual ticket sales and a real occupancy of 49.43%.
