Despite repeatedly delivering in pressure situations, Rinku Singh remains one of the most undervalued players in Indian T20 cricket. A closer look at his numbers, especially in the final overs, reveals just how effective and reliable he has been, even with limited opportunities.
Rinku Singh’s Last-Over Numbers Stand Out
In T20 internationals for India, Hardik Pandya leads the list for most sixes hit in the final over, with 15 sixes in 98 innings. He is followed by MS Dhoni, who smashed 12 sixes in 85 innings.
But the most striking name on that list is Rinku Singh.
Rinku has also hit 12 sixes in the final over, but he has done it in just 26 innings. Even more impressively, he remained not out in 13 of those 26 innings, highlighting his ability to finish games without throwing his wicket away.
Globally, David Miller tops the list with 22 last-over sixes, but those came across 117 innings. When viewed purely through efficiency, Rinku’s strike rate and impact put him in elite company.
Limited Opportunities, Maximum Impact
Despite these numbers, Rinku Singh has been surprisingly underused. In 2025, India played 21 T20Is, but Rinku featured in only five matches. Team combinations, selection calls, and experiments often saw him make way for other options, even though his role was clear.
Yet whenever he has played, Rinku has delivered.
In 26 T20I innings, he has scored 594 runs at an average close to 46 and a strike rate of 165. For a batter who usually comes in late and faces high-pressure deliveries, those numbers are exceptional. He also has three fifties, despite batting lower down the order.
More Than Just a Batter
Rinku Singh’s value goes beyond his batting. He is a sharp fielder, athletic, and dependable in the deep — an asset in modern T20 cricket where every run saved matters.
What truly sets Rinku apart, though, is temperament. He values his wicket, reads situations well, and rarely panics under pressure. More often than not, when Rinku is at the crease at the end, India wins.
Time to Back Him Properly
The encouraging sign is that the team management appears ready to back Rinku again. And rightly so. His numbers don’t suggest potential, they show proven impact.
If given a consistent run, Rinku Singh has all the tools to become one of the best finishers in the world. For now, the real question isn’t what Rinku can do; it’s why India hasn’t trusted him more.
