Logan Paul may be one of the most surprising stars in WWE’s recent history, but last week’s Friday Night SmackDown proved even he isn’t immune to delivering a certified disaster on live television.

In what was supposed to be a dramatic backstage segment, Logan was scripted to ambush John Cena with a surprise punch—classic heel energy. But instead of landing the blow, Logan launched what might be the worst punch WWE fans have seen in years… if not ever. The punch missed Cena’s face by at least 4 inches. Yet, in true WWE fashion, Cena still went down like he’d been hit with a steel chair. The scene aired on Netflix, and it didn’t take long for viewers to hit pause, rewind, and meme it into oblivion.

The backlash was so intense, WWE had to re-shoot the entire segment. In the edited version aired on TV, Logan Paul re-entered the frame and this time actually connected with the punch. But the damage—at least online—was already done. The botched original had spread like wildfire. Fans began calling it the “Prime Punch”—a jab at both Logan’s punch and his energy drink brand. Others compared the miss to invisible opponents in fighting games.

What made the moment even more ridiculous was how seriously WWE tried to salvage it. The re-shot version still felt awkward, with Logan visibly walking into Cena’s line of sight before throwing the punch. So much for a sneak attack.

The Miss Heard Around the World

Logan Paul, despite being a solid performer overall, has now etched his name in wrestling infamy with a botch so bad it might deserve its own Hall of Fame category. Twitter/X was flooded with reactions ranging from brutal roasts to fan edits comparing the moment to WWE 2K24 glitches.

To his credit, Logan hasn’t publicly commented yet—maybe he’s waiting for the memes to stop (spoiler: they won’t).

This incident is a reminder of the fine line WWE walks between spectacle and slapstick. And while the punch may have missed, the internet definitely didn’t.

Because in the world of WWE, you can script the show—but you can’t script the memes.
