We’ve all been there, opening a food delivery app, promising ourselves we’ll eat healthy, and somehow ending up with a burger and fries. Recognizing this common struggle, Zomato has introduced a new feature called Healthy Mode, designed to make finding nutritious options simpler for users.
What Zomato’s Founder Says
According to Zomato’s founder, Deepinder Goyal, ordering food has never been easier but identifying genuinely healthier meals hasn’t been. Healthy Mode aims to bridge that gap, helping customers make informed choices without the guesswork.
"It's (Healthy Mode feature) live in Gurgaon, and we'll expand fast. Try it, tear it apart, tell us where it fails. Because this is just the beginning - and for the first time, I feel we're moving meaningfully closer to truly living up to our mission: better food for more people," Eternal Founder Deepinder Goyal said in a post on X.
How does Zomato Healthy Mode Work?
The feature leverages AI and restaurant data to assign each dish a health score, ranging from “low” to “super.” The app evaluates meals based on protein, complex carbohydrates, fibre, and micronutrients—not just calories. Each dish also comes with a detailed explanation of its score, so users understand what makes it a healthier choice.
Availability and Expansion Plans
Currently, Healthy Mode is available in Gurgaon, with plans to expand across India. Zomato is encouraging users to try the feature and share their feedback to improve the experience.
Why This Matters
For anyone who has struggled to make healthy choices while ordering in, Healthy Mode could be a game-changer. By highlighting meals that truly fit nutritional goals, the feature takes the guesswork out of healthy eating.
