India beat Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, making it 8-0 in past 8 encounters. Suryakumar Yadav dismissed the idea of a rivalry. Post-match, Indian players refused to take the trophy from Pakistan minister Mohsin Naqvi. He eventually walked off with it, while India celebrated without needing the silverware.

Good thing the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final was live on air, otherwise Pakistan would’ve claimed this one too as their win. If you know, you know.

It’s not just 3-0 anymore… It’s 8-0 now, with full video receipts.

And Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav had already pointed it out earlier that there is no rivalry left.

"I believe that you all should stop asking questions about this rivalry. To me, if the two teams are playing 15 to 20 matches and if it is tied at 7-7 or if one is ahead at 8-7, then you can say that is playing good cricket or a good rivalry. Now if it is 13-0 or 10-1... I'm not sure what the exact statistic is, but this is not a rivalry anymore. But yeah, I feel we played better cricket than them between 7 to 15 overs and also from the bowling point of view," said Surya.

This guy had been saying it for ages, but just look at those Pakistani players, still fooling around, refusing to accept it. The ultimate humiliation came when Team India flat-out refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, choosing instead to chill on the ground until he walked off the podium.

In the end, Mr Naqvi literally ran away from the stadium with the trophy. If you can’t win it, just steal it - seems like their plan.

What did Surya say in the post-match PC?

"I think this is one thing which I have never seen since I started playing cricket, since I started following cricket, that a champion team is denied get a trophy, that too a hard-earned one. It's not like we got it all done very easily. But it was a hard-earned tournament, we were here since the 4th, played a game today... Two back-to-back good games in two days. I feel we deserved it. I can't say anything more; I've summed it up really well. If you tell me about trophies, my trophies are sitting in the dressing room, all the 14 guys with me, the support staff, those are the real trophies."

The No-Trophy Drama

And yet, Team India celebrated the victory in style without even touching the trophy. Rohit Sharma's iconic celebration was recreated without a trophy, and players uploaded pictures with trophy emojis on social media. Honestly, we’ve already posed with the real Asia Cup trophy eight times before. Nothing new for us, you see. Trophy or no trophy, the point was already made. Neighbours, just admit it - the rivalry is dead.

The gap between Pakistan and Indian cricket is so wide that one team has to keep winning every single match just to maintain normalcy, while the other celebrates for a decade if they somehow scrape one win, acting as if they’ve been winning all along.
