Rohit Sharma's two contrasting pictures taken 22 days apart narrate a special tale. Reports claimed that the Hitman shed 20 kg and aced the Bronco and Yo-Yo tests at 38. Is Rohit's exceptional fitness test score authentic?
Rohit Sharma's latest pictures created a buzz on social media as the Indian ODI skipper looked a lot fitter. Contrary to a snap, clicked on August 9, where Rohit clearly seemed a lot heavier. The difference is night and day. Rohit clearly looks leaner, and if some sources are to be believed, he shed 20 kgs in just 22 days. Bhai, unreal dedication at the age of 38.
With the fitness test around the corner, he was grinding it out with Abhishek Nayar. BCCI had introduced a new rugby-style drill called the Bronco Test, and Rohit delivered impressive numbers. The cut-off time to complete 5 sets was 6 minutes. Rohit clocked around 5 minutes 15–20 seconds, which speaks volumes about his strength and conditioning.
What is the Bronko Test?
Bronco Tests for a player start is introduced to maintain a high fitness level and improve aerobic capacity. A player starts with a 20m shuttle run, followed by a 40m and a 60m run. Players are required to do 5 sets, which adds up to 1200 meters, in 6 minutes without a break.
Rohit Sharma fitness test result
Many India-bound cricketers featured in the tests on August 30 and 31, including Rohit, at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence. While all players passed the tests, some reports claimed that Rohit finished with a score of 19.4 – if true, that’s exceptional. But the reality is that the BCCI never officially reveals fitness scores, so unless confirmed, this remains speculative.
But here’s the real scoreboard:
  • Bronco Test cleared in his very first attempt.
  • Yo-Yo Test cleared at 38.
  • Captaincy Test cleared with 2 ICC trophies in 11 months.
  • Selfless Test cleared during the 2023 World Cup.
Fitness isn’t just about 6-pack abs. If that were the case, Rohit "Hitman" Sharma wouldn’t be among the fittest in Team India. One thing’s for sure – his game fitness is elite, and he’s nowhere close to being done.
What's next for the Hitman?
Rohit is expected to return to national duty with the tour of Australia. Team India is scheduled to play 3 ODIs Down Under on October 19, 23 and 25, and Rohit will most likely lead the side. However, a few reports claimed that he might return a little early and could turn up for India A for 3 one-day matches against Australia A on September 30, October 3 and 5 at Kanpur.
