From 300 dreams to countless Memes: What went wrong for SRH?

From 300 dreams to countless Memes: What went wrong for SRH?

Is SRH not making it to the playoffs the most shocking result of IPL 2025? If yes, what went wrong for the Sunrisers Hyderabad?
Before IPL 2025 kicked off, if you were asked, “Which team looks the most explosive?” — 9 out of 10 people would’ve screamed: Sunrisers Hyderabad.
I mean, just look at last season’s fireworks. And then this year, right from the opening match — 286 runs on the board — the internet went wild: “This time, 300 is just a warm-up!”
But now? SRH is knocked out, bruised, and completely confused. Forget 300, this team’s forgotten how to win matches altogether. So... what the heck went wrong?

Opening Pair or Just a Scare?
Last year, the Abhishek-Head duo was setting stadiums on fire. This year? They’ve been about as threatening as a wet sparkler.
Abhishek still showed flashes, but Travis Head, the Aussie menace, turned into a mild breeze. Two fifties in 10 innings? Bro, there are more memes on him than runs this season.

The Great Kishan Vanish Act
When SRH picked up Ishan Kishan at the auction, fans thought this lineup was going to chew bowlers up for breakfast.
First match — boom! A sizzling century. And then... radio silence.
In his next 10 innings, he added just 90 runs. Honestly, they might as well have given Atharva Taide a go. At least it would’ve been interesting.

From Rockstar to Ghost: Nitish Kumar Reddy
Last season’s breakout star. This season’s mystery man.
Nitish wasn’t just an IPL hero — the man debuted for India, smashed a Test hundred at the MCG, and looked like the next big thing.
But IPL 2025? Just 173 runs in 10 matches. Feels like he left his good form behind with the Aussie customs.

Pacers Out of Puff
SRH’s fast-bowling attack was meant to be scary. Instead, it was scary bad.
Harshal Patel and Pat Cummins picked up wickets, sure, but at what cost? Both bled runs with economy rates over 9.
And Mohammed Shami? 6 wickets in 9 matches, leaking runs at over 11 an over. At this point, batters were lining up to face him like it’s happy hour bowling.

Spinners or Benchwarmers?
Okay fine, pacers misfired — surely the spinners had some magic?
Not quite. Zeeshan Ansari looked promising early with 3 wickets in his debut match... but then managed just 3 more in the next 8.
And Rahul Chahar? He basically took a season-long vow of silence — bowled just one over the entire tournament. That’s not “underused,” that’s vanishing from the script.

But hey, It’s not all doom and gloom.
Let’s not forget — this is the same SRH that holds 4 out of the top 5 highest team totals in IPL history.
They’ll want to chalk this one up as a “one-off.” A weird season. A glitch in the matrix.
Fix the cracks, plug the leaks, and come back stronger — because when this team is on fire, they’re a rocket. When they stall? Not even a scooter.

So Orange Army, which player disappointed you the most this season? Drop your thoughts, light up the comments —
because in the IPL, nothing is ever forgotten... and fans? They’ve got memories sharper than Google Search.
