The roar of the crowd at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur turned into applause of historic proportions on Sunday, as Virat Kohli etched yet another milestone in his already glittering IPL career. Representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the 36-year-old batting maestro delivered another classy half-century, this time against Rajasthan Royals — and with it, he joined elite company in IPL history.

Kohli’s latest knock marked his 66th 50-plus score in the Indian Premier League, equalling the record previously held solely by Australian legend David Warner. Warner reached that mark with 62 half-centuries and 4 hundreds in 184 innings. Kohli, with 58 fifties and an impressive 8 centuries, has matched it in 250 innings — highlighting both his longevity and sustained excellence in the tournament.

What made the achievement even sweeter for fans was the sheer quality of the innings itself. Calm, composed, and dripping with class, Kohli once again anchored RCB’s innings, mixing caution with calculated aggression. While some may argue that Warner’s strike rate has been superior, Kohli’s ability to consistently perform under pressure and carry the expectations of an entire fanbase gives his numbers a legendary sheen.

This knock was also Kohli’s third 50+ score in just six innings this season — a clear sign that the veteran is far from slowing down. In fact, he seems to be turning back the clock, looking lean, focused, and in sublime touch. Across the broader T20 format, he recently brought up his 100th T20 half-century, joining an ultra-elite club of batting greats.

And if that wasn’t enough, earlier this week, the RCB talisman became the first Indian to breach the 13,000-run mark in T20s, crossing yet another monumental barrier during a clash against Mumbai Indians.

Records may be meant to be broken, but when Virat Kohli breaks them, he doesn’t just rewrite the stats — he redefines the standard. With the season still alive and Kohli in this kind of form, don’t be surprised if he pulls ahead of Warner soon. The king isn’t done — he’s just getting warmed up.
