Apple’s new M5 powered MacBook Pro and iPad Pro have launched in India. Let's break it down.

The M5 chip means business

The M5 chip is the heart of this update. Apple says it’s up to 3.5 times faster than the M4. It’s also more efficient. You get more speed without cooking your lap or killing your battery. Apple’s added new AI features too, but they’re quiet ones. Nothing flashy or loud. Just small things that make the experience smoother.

MacBook Pro M5: Still the pro’s laptop

The new MacBook Pro looks the same as before. Same aluminum body, same clean finish. The screen is a beautiful Liquid Retina XDR panel. The colors are deep and the contrast is spot on. The six-speaker setup sounds full and rich, and the 12MP Center Stage camera finally makes you look clear on video calls. You won’t mind leaving the camera on anymore. Battery life is apparently amazing and Apple claims up to 24 hours.
It runs on macOS Tahoe. That’s where Apple’s new “Apple Intelligence” shows up. You’ll notice smarter suggestions in Messages, smoother FaceTime calls, and better live translations. Nothing feels forced or experimental — just small things that work. It comes in Space Black and Silver. Prices start at ₹1,69,000, or ₹1,59,900 if you’re a student.

iPad Pro M5: Thinner, brighter, better

The iPad Pro M5 is the thinnest device Apple’s ever made. 5.3mm for the 11-inch and just 5.1mm for the 13-inch. Now, you get an Ultra Retina XDR OLED display, and it’s gorgeous. The brightness peaks at 1600 nits, and it’s bright enough to use outdoors. Blacks look deep, colors pop, and animations glide. If you work with visuals — photo, video, design — this screen will spoil you.
It starts at ₹99,990 for the 11-inch and ₹1,29,900 for the 13-inch. You can add nano-texture glass for an anti-glare finish, which is great if you work in bright light or in studios.

Vision Pro 2: The quiet reveal

Apple also dropped the Vision Pro 2. It runs on the same M5 chip and has a redesigned head strap that’s more comfortable for long use. Still no India release though.

The bottom line

Apple’s M5 lineup isn’t trying to sell you an AI dream. It’s refining what already worked and pushing it further. The MacBook Pro M5 is built for people who need power all day and don’t want to think about battery life. The iPad Pro M5 is for those who live on visuals and want a screen that matches their pace.
