Apple’s big AI flex just backfired. A fresh class-action lawsuit in the US is calling the company out for allegedly misleading customers about its much-hyped Apple Intelligence features. The lawsuit, filed in a California court, claims Apple’s marketing made it seem like its AI would be ready to roll on day one—but when buyers got their hands on the new iPhones, those flashy AI tools were either super limited or straight-up missing.
The lawsuit says Apple tricked users into thinking they were getting cutting-edge AI features, when in reality, they were sold a promise that didn’t deliver. Now, the plaintiffs are looking for compensation, arguing they paid a premium for features that weren’t even there.
Siri’s AI makeover delayed (Again)
If you were waiting for Apple’s AI-powered Siri upgrade, bad news—it’s been pushed back again. The AI-driven version of Siri was supposed to drop with iOS 18.4 in April, but now reports suggest it won’t arrive until sometime next year, possibly even 2026. Apparently, Apple’s internal testing found so many issues that they might have to rebuild the whole thing from scratch. Yikes.
And it’s not just Siri—Apple Intelligence as a whole has been rolling out painfully slow. It wasn’t even ready when the iPhone 16 launched, and right now, it’s still only available in a few regions. The company has promised a wider rollout, including in India, next month, but at this rate, who knows?
Apple’s AI team just got a shake-up
With all these AI delays piling up, Apple’s making some big moves behind the scenes. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook is not happy with how things are going, and he’s lost faith in John Giannandrea, Apple’s AI boss. As a result, Siri’s development is now being handed over to Mike Rockwell—the guy behind the Vision Pro.
Meanwhile, Rockwell’s hardware lead, Paul Meade, is taking over Apple’s Vision Products Group, reporting directly to hardware chief John Ternus. It’s a major shift, and it seems like Apple is scrambling to get its AI game together.
Between this lawsuit, AI delays, and leadership drama, Apple’s AI rollout is looking rough. Will they pull it together, or is this just the start of more trouble?
