Oppo just dropped the F29 & F29 Pro—but are they actually worth upgrading to?

Oppo has just dropped the F29 5G and F29 Pro 5G in India, and they’re packed with some serious features. Think military-grade durability, AI-powered signal boosting, and even underwater photography—because why not? If you're after a phone that’s tough, stylish, and built to last all day, this might be the one.

Built to survive anything

Both models come with a 360-degree Armour Body and are certified with MIL-STD-810H-2022, meaning they can handle accidental drops without breaking a sweat. Plus, with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, these phones are practically waterproof—you can even snap pics underwater.

Oppo has also thrown in AI LinkBoost Technology and Hunter Antenna Architecture, which promise stronger network signals no matter where you are. Whether you're in a packed stadium or deep inside a building, this tech helps keep your connection stable.

Performance & display that impress

Under the hood, the Oppo F29 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, while the F29 Pro 5G packs a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy SoC. Both offer up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, so expect smooth multitasking and plenty of space for apps, videos, and games.

Both phones feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling buttery smooth. The F29 Pro is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the standard model gets Gorilla Glass 7i. Brightness? A solid 1,200 nits, so outdoor visibility won’t be an issue.

Cameras & battery life

For photography, Oppo keeps things sharp with a 50MP main sensor. The Pro model gets Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) for steadier shots, while the regular version sticks with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). Both phones feature a 16MP selfie camera and can record 4K videos at 30fps. And yes, they’ve got an underwater photography mode—so you can actually use them in the pool.

Battery life is another win. The Oppo F29 5G comes with a massive 6,500mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC fast charging, while the F29 Pro 5G gets a 6,000mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC—which means crazy-fast charging speeds.

Pricing and availability

The Oppo F29 5G is priced at ₹23,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and ₹25,000 for the 8GB + 256GB version, while the F29 Pro 5G starts at ₹27,999 for 8GB + 128GB, going up to ₹29,999 for 8GB + 256GB and ₹31,999 for 12GB + 256GB. The F29 5G is available for pre-order now and ships from March 27, while the F29 Pro 5G will start shipping from April 1.

Oppo also has several banking offers for an additional discount. Both phones will be available via Oppo’s e-store, Amazon, and Flipkart.
