Apple’s cooking up a camera trick Samsung nailed over a decade ago—dual-video recording.

Apple might be catching up to a feature Samsung users have enjoyed for a while — dual-video recording. According to popular leaker Jon Prosser, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could come with the ability to record using both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. The feature is already live in apps like Snapchat, but this would be the first time Apple builds it into the native Camera app.

A big win for content creators?

This feature is a total game-changer for vloggers, YouTubers, and TikTokers. Imagine filming a sunset with the rear camera while your face is in a little bubble reacting in real time — picture-in-picture, no third-party app needed. Samsung has been doing this since the Galaxy S4, launched back in 2013. This feature is available in Samsung’s native camera app, under the Director’s View setting. It’s high time Apple joined the party.

That said, Apple hasn’t confirmed anything yet, so as always, take this with a healthy pinch of internet salt.

The camera bump is getting a makeover

Dual-video recording might not be the only major upgrade. According to leaks, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to ditch the square camera bump we’ve seen since the iPhone 11 days. Instead, Apple may be going for a pill-shaped or rectangular layout, which could mean not just a new look, but possibly better internal optics and layout efficiency.

Big sensor upgrades incoming

Now here’s the real kicker — reports suggest that all iPhone 17 models might get a 24MP front camera, doubling the resolution from the iPhone 16’s 12MP. Expect sharper selfies, cleaner FaceTime calls, and way better front-camera video.

As for the rear? The iPhone 17 Pro Max could be the first iPhone ever to rock three 48MP cameras — a main sensor, an ultra-wide, and a tetraprism periscope telephoto lens for those juicy zoom shots. On top of that, Apple might throw in a mechanical aperture, so users can manually tweak light intake like they’re using a DSLR.

If these leaks are legit, the iPhone 17 Pro could be the most creator-friendly iPhone ever — and maybe, just maybe, Apple’s finally catching up to some of Android’s coolest camera tricks.
