Apple’s just dropped the iPhone Air, and to say it’s “thin” would be an understatement. At just 5.6mm thick, this new iPhone is so slim it’s almost like holding a sheet of paper in your hands. But here’s the kicker — it’s not just about looks. Inside, Apple’s packed some serious power. The iPhone Air is sleek, but it’s also built for speed. Let’s dive in and break down everything about this device.
iPhone Air: Design
Apple has truly outdone itself with the iPhone Air’s design. At 5.6mm thick, this is now the thinnest iPhone ever. The iPhone Air is thinner than two pencils stacked together, and holding it feels like holding a feather and it is even thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge (which measures 5.8mm).
But despite how slim it is, Apple has made sure it remains tough and premium. The phone features a polished titanium frame and Ceramic Shield 2 glass on the front, with the original Ceramic Shield protecting the back.
The iPhone Air comes in four colour options: Space Black, Light Gold, Sky Blue, and Cloud White.
iPhone Air: Display
The iPhone Air boasts a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display, complete with ProMotion technology that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. Whether you're browsing, gaming, or streaming, the iPhone Air’s display delivers vibrant colours and smooth transitions.
The peak brightness of 3,000 nits makes the display incredibly bright, ensuring readability even in direct sunlight. Though we’ll need to test it in real-world conditions.
iPhone Air: Cameras
The 48MP fusion camera system on the back of the device is capable of 2x optical zoom, giving you extra reach for more versatile shots. However, it’s important to note that there’s no ultrawide camera or the telephoto lens found in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models.
Additionally, the Dual Capture mode allows you to shoot with both the front and back cameras simultaneously, so you can capture all angles in one shot.
On the front, you’ve got an 18MP selfie camera with Center Stage. This feature automatically adjusts the framing to keep you in the shot, no matter how much you move.
iPhone Air: Performance
Under the hood you get an A19 Pro chip. This chip is not only found in the iPhone Air, but also in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models.
And Apple claims it is on par with MacBooks. The A19 Pro will make the phone feel lightning-fast, from app launches to multitasking and gaming. Whether you’re editing videos, playing heavy-duty games, or just browsing the web.
Apple has also included a new N1 chip for wireless connectivity, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread smart home standards. By this we can expect faster internet speeds and better wireless performance across the board.
iPhone Air: Battery Life & Charging
The battery life on the iPhone Air looks solid. Apple claims up to 27 hours of video playback and promises all-day battery life, which is impressive considering the device’s thin profile. However, the true test will be how the thermals hold up during real-world use, especially with the slim design.
As for charging, the iPhone Air supports 20W charging, which is decent but not the fastest out there. That said, it does offer fast charging capabilities, with the phone charging from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes. Additionally, the iPhone Air supports Qi 2 wireless charging up to 20W.
iPhone Air: Connectivity
For the first time, the iPhone Air is eSIM-compatible-only worldwide. Unlike the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, which offer both eSIM and SIM card options, the iPhone Air eliminates the traditional SIM card slot entirely.
Apple has also included a C1X modem for faster network performance and greater efficiency.
iPhone Air: Price and Availability
The iPhone Air starts at ₹1,19,900 for the 256GB variant, and goes up to ₹1,59,900 for the 1TB model. Pre-orders open on September 12th, with in-store availability from September 19th.
Is the iPhone Air the Future of iPhones?
The iPhone Air is a bold move from Apple. Whether it’s the future of iPhones or just a slimmer option remains to be seen, but it’s definitely a premium device that offers both style and power. If you’re into design, performance, and innovative features, this might just be the iPhone you’ve been waiting for.
