Motorola has officially fired the first shot in this year’s foldable wars, and let’s just say — it’s not holding back. The star of the show? The Moto Razr 60 Ultra.
Priced at a premium $1,299 (or about ₹1,11,200), this phone isn’t just trying to keep up with the Galaxy Z Flip — it’s trying to out-style it. And it’s doing that with, wait for it… a real wood panel on the back.
Yes, a real wood finish is here — and it’s stunning
Let’s talk about that back panel. It’s actual wood, complete with grains, textures and everything. Like the good old Moto X days, only sleeker. It gives the Razr Ultra an old-school luxury vibe that most glass-and-metal flagships can only dream of.
And if wood’s not your thing, there are more aesthetic finishes like a deep red textured leather, a pinkish hue, and even Alcantara — that soft, suede-like material you might remember from high-end laptops. Basically, Motorola is making foldables fashion again.
Premium inside and out
Spec-wise, the Razr 60 Ultra is packing some really impressive hardware. We get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite chipset along with a max of 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
For the display, we have a 7-inch OLED inner screen with 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The 4-inch outer display is the same size as last year, but it gets way more utility thanks to software upgrades. There’s also a titanium-reinforced hinge that Motorola claims is 4x stronger — and yes, the crease is barely noticeable.
We also get 68W wired charging and 30W wireless charging
We also get proper 50MP sensors across all cameras, with bigger pixels, which means low light photography is about to look fire.
AI button and Moto’s new brain
One exclusive Ultra feature is a dedicated AI button. It launches Moto AI, Motorola’s shiny new assistant. It can summarise your notifications, remember things you tell it, and suggest actions using Perplexity AI. It’s a slick integration, and while we’ve seen a bunch of AI gimmicks recently, Moto’s actually look useful — especially the “Catch me up” and “Remember this” tools.
Not just the Ultra — but three Razrs in total
Alongside the Ultra, Motorola also announced the 2025 Razr Plus for $999 (about ₹85,600) and a standard Razr $699 (₹60,000). All three foldables come with IP48 water protection, sturdier hinges, and updated software — but only the Ultra gets the wood finish and flagship-level specs.
Preorders for all three go live in the US on May 7, with sales kicking off on May 15. India availability should follow soon after — fingers crossed we get the wood variant here too.
