OnePlus is going all-in on design and performance with the Nord 5 and CE 5. In this hands-on unboxing, I take a first look at both phones, highlight the upgrades, and share why Nord fans should be paying attention this time.

OnePlus is back with not one, but two new Nords — the Nord 5 and the Nord CE 5. Both phones are launching in India on July 8, and I’ve just got my hands on the special media package OnePlus sent over. So yes, this isn’t your usual retail unboxing — it’s a little over the top, and very OnePlus.

Big box, bold vibes

The media kit is hard to miss. It’s massive, blue, and opens in a way that’ll definitely grab attention. The first thing I saw when I lifted the lid was this quirky mirror cube, sitting right on top. Below that were the two phones — Nord 5 and Nord CE 5. Since the Nord 5 is clearly the main event, I started there.

Nord 5: Clean look, serious performance

Inside the box, you get the usual stuff — user guides, a SIM ejector tool, the iconic red-and-white cable, a clear case, and an 80W charger. But let’s talk about the phone. The unit I have is in the Marble Sands colour, and it looks genuinely slick. There’s this wavy shimmer pattern on the back that catches the light just right. You can also get it in Phantom Grey and Dry Ice, if that’s more your vibe.

Under the hood, it’s running the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is a nice bump up from last year’s Nord 4. OnePlus says this one can run BGMI at 144fps for five hours — which sounds wild for a Nord, and I’ll definitely be testing that in the review.

At the back, there’s a 50MP Sony LYT-700 main camera and an 8MP ultrawide, packed into a pill-shaped camera module. On the front, there’s another 50MP sensor, and for the first time on a Nord, you can shoot 4K 60fps from both cameras — front and back.

Nord CE 5: Budget Nord, same vibe

Unboxing the CE 5 felt pretty familiar. Same accessories, same cable, same charger. The phone I have is in this bright Nexus Blue, and while the back is plastic, the overall design feels clean and consistent. The pill-shaped camera bump makes a return here too.
