The wait is finally over—Google has officially begun shipping its much-hyped Pixel 10, and we’ve managed to get our hands on the gorgeous Obsidian variant.
If you’re a fan of bold, glossy designs and top-tier hardware, the Pixel 10 makes quite a first impression before you’ve even powered it on.
Unboxing the Pixel 10: A Premium, Eco-Friendly Experience
Right from the start, Google’s attention to detail is obvious. The Pixel 10 arrives in the brand’s signature eco-friendly packaging, complete with a colour-matched outer sleeve that protects the main beige box inside. Peel off the locking tabs and slide out the box, and you’ll be greeted by a clean line drawing of the phone on the lid—simple, understated, and very Google.
Inside, there’s a cut-out for the Pixel 10’s striking camera island and a neatly tucked-in cardboard sleeve containing the documentation and that iconic, circular SIM ejector tool. The phone itself sits wrapped in an eco-conscious clear paper, while the familiar white USB-C to USB-C cable waits underneath. No charger in the box, but that’s no surprise in 2025.
Obsidian Makes The Design Shine
Unwrapping the Pixel 10 is a tactile treat—even if the paper covering is almost impossible to remove without tearing it. The Obsidian finish looks brilliant: it’s a deep, glossy black with a metal frame and that minimalist Google logo on the back. In the hand, it feels every bit like a true Android flagship. Our only early gripe? Like most glossy phones, fingerprints are probably going to be an issue, but we’ll see how it holds up with regular use.
That camera bump deserves a shoutout too. It juts out noticeably, which hints at the serious camera hardware packed inside. More on that as we dive into testing.
Case & Pixelsnap: Subtle Upgrades
Google also shipped us the official Pixel 10 case, which, like the phone, comes wrapped in recyclable paper. The case features a rubberised matte finish with a glossy Google logo and, for the first time, support for Pixelsnap—Google’s new take on Apple’s MagSafe system. Inside, the case gets a soft, felt-like lining with markings for the Pixelsnap magnets, keeping your Pixel safe and stylish.
Specs Rundown: All the Firepower You Need
The Pixel 10 features a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 10 Pro upgrades to a Super Actua panel. For those wanting the biggest screen, the Pixel 10 Pro XL bumps it up to 6.8 inches and boasts up to 3,300 nits peak brightness.
Under the hood, the new Tensor G5 chipset powers the phone, backed by up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. There’s also Google’s Titan T2 security chip for added peace of mind. The 4,970mAh battery promises over 24 hours of use, with fast charging to 55% in just 30 minutes (30W charger sold separately) and Pixelsnap wireless charging up to 15W.
On the camera front, the Pixel 10 steps up to a triple-lens system: 48MP main, 13MP ultra-wide, and 10.8MP 5X telephoto, plus a 10.5MP front camera with autofocus.
