Festivals are around the corner, and so is the launch of several flagships. We have already seen some really interesting launches, but the upcoming GT 8 Pro is going to be playing on another level. The leaked images are creating a buzz on Twitter, revealing what could be Realme’s boldest and most powerful phone yet.
A new design
Leaks suggest that the biggest upgrade is going to be in the design of the phone. The two leaked images that are circulating on Twitter suggest that the outer camera module can be changed. Not the sensors or anything else apart from that, just the outer housing can be swapped from square to round.
This level of customisation may seem basic, but it looks cool and interesting, and it’s never seen on a mass produced smartphone before.
Interestingly, while the design layout can be altered, the camera sensors themselves will stay fixed, ensuring functionality isn’t compromised. Realme has reportedly partnered with the renowned Japanese optics brand Ricoh for this setup, and that’s where things get even more exciting.
The collaboration brings five classic Ricoh colour tones and a special glare-reduction coating on the lens to improve low-light photography by minimising reflections. This indicates that Realme is seriously upping its photography game with some professional-grade hardware touches.
200MP Periscope camera
Realme GT 8 Pro is also likely to feature a new 200MP periscope telephoto lens in, which has been developed with RICOH’s optical expertise. With this new upgrade and the collaboration, the GT 8 Pro can enter the pro-grade camera phone segment.
Performance
Realme GT 8 Pro is allegedly powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which, early testing shows scores some pretty impressive numbers on Antutu. So not only camera performance, even gaming on this device should be impressive.
This display is another upgrade, a 2K OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. If Realme gets the optimisation right, this can become a competitive display in the segment.
The biggest upgrade in most phones this year would be the battery. Realme GT 8 Pro will pack a 7,000mAh battery with 120W SuperVOOC charging support.
Final Thoughts: A serious flagship contender
If the leaks turn out to be correct, the Realme GT 8 Pro will prove to be tough on competitors like iQOO 15, OnePlus 15, and others. A customizable design, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 performance, and a massive 7000mAh battery support; the upgrades look really promising.
Of course, all of this remains unconfirmed until the official launch, but if Realme delivers on even half of these promises, the GT 8 Pro could be one of 2025’s most talked-about smartphones.
