The Galaxy S25 Edge only just broke cover, but Samsung fans are already buzzing about what’s next. If new leaks are anything to go by, Samsung is looking to shake things up in 2026 — and the Plus variant might not survive the cut.
Samsung might ditch the Plus, go all in on Edge
According to a new report from Korean outlet The Elec, Samsung is planning to rework its Galaxy S26 lineup by swapping the traditional ‘Plus’ model with a new Edge variant. That means next year’s lineup could be the Galaxy S26, S26 Ultra, and S26 Edge. But nothing’s locked in just yet.
Samsung is reportedly waiting to see how the Galaxy S25 Edge performs in the market before making a final decision. If consumers love the new slim form factor, the Edge could permanently take the Plus model’s spot in 2026. If not, Samsung might stick with the current lineup.
Samsung’s Galaxy S25 sales targets revealed
The report also gave us some interesting insight into Samsung’s internal sales targets. In 2025, the company is aiming to ship 37.7 million Galaxy S25 series phones globally. Out of that, the standard Galaxy S25 is expected to sell 13.6 million units, while the Ultra leads the pack with a 17.4 million unit target. The Galaxy S25+? Only 6.7 million units.
So yeah, it makes sense that Samsung is thinking about replacing it. A slimmer, more premium Edge model might just be the refresh the middle tier needs.
Galaxy S26 series in development
The Elec also says Samsung has already kicked off development of the Galaxy S26 series, which is reportedly codenamed ‘NPA.’ Four OLED panels are said to be in development for the lineup.
