Samsung’s gearing up to launch its next big software update, and One UI 7 is finally ready for prime time. After weeks of beta testing, the stable version starts rolling out globally today, April 7, 2025 — and it’s bringing a fresh new vibe along with smarter features to a wide range of Galaxy phones and tablets.
One UI 7 release starts April 7 — but who gets it first?
Samsung’s rollout plan kicks off with the Galaxy S24 series, which will be the first to receive the update. Do keep in mind that the Galaxy S25 series was launched with OneUI 7, so there’s no major update for.
From there, the company will push One UI 7 to more devices in phases, depending on model and region. So if you don’t see it right away, don’t panic — it’s coming.
Samsung has confirmed a solid list of phones and tablets getting the One UI 7 update first. Here’s who’s in:
-
Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra
-
Galaxy S24 FE
-
Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra
-
Galaxy S23 FE
-
Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6
-
Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5
-
Galaxy Tab S10 and Tab S9 series
-
Galaxy A55
One odd exclusion? The Galaxy A35, which launched alongside the A55, isn’t on the list yet. That said, it could still get the update soon. Meanwhile, newer budget models like the Galaxy A06 5G are already shipping with One UI 7 out of the box.
How to download One UI 7 on your Galaxy device
Once the update is live for your phone or tablet, it’s super easy to install. Just head over to Settings > Software Update > Download and install. If your model is eligible, the update will start automatically. Pro tip: connect to Wi-Fi and make sure you’ve got enough battery before hitting update.
What’s new in One UI 7?
Visually, One UI 7 gets a glow-up with brighter app icons, pill-shaped notifications, and a cleaner Quick Panel layout. Swiping from different parts of the screen now separates notifications from the control panel — super handy.
There are also new tools for customising widgets and buttons, plus a “Now Bar” that changes based on what you’re doing — music, calls, workouts, you name it. Samsung’s also added Galaxy AI tools like Writing Assist and Call Transcripts in 20 languages.
On the security front, a new USB protection feature blocks external access when your phone is locked.
One UI 7 is one of Samsung’s biggest updates yet, bringing a visual overhaul and loads of intelligent features. For starters, notifications and the Quick Panel are now separate screens. You can swipe down from anywhere to access notifications, which are now larger, pill-shaped, and easier to read. The Quick Panel also gets a cleaner look with more accessible toggles and a redesigned volume bar.
Customisation gets a big boost too — you can now reorder every button and toggle, and stock app widgets can be labelled and styled to your liking. Oh, and yes — you can finally switch the app drawer to vertical scrolling.
Meet the “Now Bar” and Galaxy AI features
There’s a brand-new UI element called the Now Bar, and it adapts based on what you’re doing. It shows music controls, call tools, Samsung Health tracking, and more — all in a pill-shaped icon that expands and docks at the bottom of your screen. It’s also visible on the lock screen, which makes it super accessible on the go.
On the AI side, One UI 7 introduces a handful of Galaxy AI features. One standout is Writing Assist, which shows up whenever you select text. It can handle spelling, grammar, tone, formatting — even summarising notes. Another big one is Call Transcripts, which automatically transcribes recorded calls in up to 20 languages. No more typing out notes after long phone calls.
One UI 7 is officially rolling out starting today — and with smarter tools, better visuals, and a ton of personalisation options, it’s easily one of Samsung’s most exciting updates yet.
