Vivo’s OriginOS 6 replaced Funtouch for a cleaner, smoother Android 16 experience packed with Flip Cards, Origin Island, and cross-device AI tools. Rollout starts November 2025.

Vivo’s finally ditching Funtouch OS and giving us something far more polished. The tech giant has unveiled its new UI Origin OS 6 at an event in Shenzhen.

The all-new OriginOS 6 is based on Android 16 and will roll out globally, which means no more split between Chinese and international versions.

The public update will start rolling out early November and will first hit the Vivo X Fold5, X200 series, V60, and iQOO 13. The X100 series and iQOO 12 will receive it later this year.

A whole new look and smoother feel

The first thing you’ll notice when you boot into OriginOS 6 is how clean it looks. Vivo has redesigned everything under its new Origin Design philosophy: softer colours, translucent layers, and smoother blur effects. Even the new Vivo Sans font gives the interface this really modern, balanced vibe. But the best bit? It actually feels faster. With the new Origin Smooth Engine, Vivo has rebuilt how animations and performance work together.

App launches are snappier, scrolling feels fluid, and transitions have this natural motion that’s genuinely satisfying. The Snap-Up Engine also kicks in when you’re doing something time-sensitive, like paying for tickets or refreshing a flash sale, making the system prioritise that action instantly.

Lock screen upgrades and Flip Cards

The lock screen now gets a proper personality too. The coolest new bit is the Flip Cards feature. You can set up to four wallpapers that smoothly shift as you tilt the phone. Plus the clock even transitions seamlessly from Always-on Display to lock screen mode. It’s a small, but delightful little detail that makes you keep flipping your phone just to see it move.

Origin Island and AI features you’ll actually use

Then there’s Origin Island. Vivo’s spin on the camera punch-hole area. It’s this live, interactive hub that shows updates for calls, timers, or music and even lets you drag text or images between apps with gestures like Copy & Go and Drag & Go. Add to that Vivo’s new AI tools like AI Creation, AI Search, and DocMaster, and you’ve got a phone that can summarise text, translate speech, or edit documents on the fly. Even the gallery gets smarter with AI Retouch, which can clean up or expand images almost perfectly.

Cross-device magic with Office Kit

Vivo’s also making sure your phone plays nicer with your other devices. The new Office Kit and Connection Center let you mirror your phone screen on a PC, transfer files instantly, or continue tasks between devices. It’s fast, easy, and genuinely useful if, like me, you bounce between laptop and phone all day.

When will my device get the update?

Vivo’s rolling out OriginOS 6 in stages, starting early November 2025. The first set of devices that will receive the update are the Vivo X Fold5, the entire X200 lineup (Pro, standard, and FE), the Vivo V60, and iQOO 13. A few weeks later, in mid-November, the update will be available to users with the X Fold3 Pro, X100 series, and iQOO 12. By mid-December, more phones like the V60e, V50, V50e, T4 Ultra, T4 Pro, and iQOO Neo 10 series will join the party.

If you have an older Vivo or iQOO device, don’t worry, the rollout continues through the first half of 2026. Devices like the X90, V40, V30, T-series, and even mid-range Y-series phones, along with iQOO 11 and the Z10/Z9 lineup will be receiving these updates, sometime in January of 2026.

There is a catch though. The timings for the update depend on your region, but most users should see the update notification pop up before next summer.

A proper fresh start

Honestly, this is the upgrade we’ve been waiting for. Funtouch always felt a bit dated, but OriginOS 6 finally feels modern, fluid, and global. It looks good, moves beautifully, and packs smart features that actually make sense in everyday use. It’s not just a new skin; it feels like Vivo finally hit reset, and this time, it nailed it.
