Vivo is one very few smartphone brands that has holds a candle to iPhones when it comes to cameras. Over the past few years, Vivo has really pushed mobile photography forward, especially with the X100 series. Now, leaks of their latest flagship smartphone Vivo X300 Pro have started to surface online and if they are anything to go by, the smartphone maker is not slowing down. With an expected launch on October 13, 2025 in China, the X300 Pro is shaping up to be another camera powerhouse.
A Look Back: Vivo’s camera legacy
Two years ago, the Vivo X100 Pro set a new benchmark for mobile photography. The X200 Pro followed with even more advanced imaging hardware, cementing Vivo’s place among the best camera phones.
Now, with the X300 Pro on the horizon, the company seems ready to refine what already works pretty well while pushing the proverbial envelope into new a territory.
Vivo X300 Pro Camera: Bigger sensors, more power
According to leaks circulating on Chinese social media platform Weibo, and on X, the Vivo X300 Pro will carry forward last year’s triple-camera design but with upgraded sensors. The main camera will reportedly use Sony’s LYT-828 sensor, which is an improved version of the LYT-818 found in the X200 Pro and Ultra. The headline feature is the 200MP periscope telephoto camera, now upgraded with Samsung’s ISOCELL HPB “Thanos” sensor. Measuring 1/1.4”, this sensor is paired to an 85mm periscope module and is expected to deliver sharper long-range shots. Vivo may also include two additional telephoto options: a 50MP 70mm lens and a smaller 50MP 120mm lens.
Early leaked photos show better detail and less compression in zooms, even at extreme magnifications like 30x.
And yes, those awesome filters from the X200 Pro loved by creators for their cinematic touch are expected to make a return. Vivo is also expanding compatibility with its Zeiss 2.35x telephoto teleconverter kit, further extending zoom and portrait capabilities.
Vivo X300 Pro Video Capabilities: A creator-friendly upgrade
Photography isn’t the only focus this year. Vivo is reportedly adding more serious video capabilities, including 4K recording at 120FPS. This puts the X300 Pro in rare company, offering features even rivals like the Oppo Find X8 Ultra don’t match. For serious content creators and amateur filmmakers, this could be a huge win.
Vivo X300 Pro Display and design: slimmer, sharper
Leaks also suggest that the Vivo X300 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch flat QLED LTPO display with an ultra-thin 7.99mm body, paired with metal frames and sharper edges. The slimmer form factor could make it easier to handle compared to the X200 Pro. Colour options are said to include Gold, Black, White, and Blue. While the overall design may remain familiar, many are hoping Vivo will finally refine the chunky camera module.
Vivo X300 Pro Performance: Power meets imaging
To back up its ambitious camera system, the X300 Pro is expected to ship with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, co-developed with ARM for stronger AI performance. Vivo will also integrate its in-house V3+ imaging chip to handle computational photography. On the software side, Vivo will be replacing Funtouch OS with OriginOS, and will come with Android 16 out of the box.
Final thoughts
The Vivo X300 Pro looks very promising and should be able to continue Vivo’s legacy in the camera phone space. With upgraded sensors, better zoom, 4K 120FPS video, and a slimmer design, it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting Android flagships of 2025. Still, until the official launch on October 13, all that we have are leaks and speculation, so it’s best to take them with a pinch of salt.
But, if the rumours prove true, though, Samsung and other competitors may have a serious fight on their hands.
