A major twist has emerged in the suicide case of Harayna IPS officer Y Puran Kumar.
Another cop allegedly killed himself in Rohtak on Tuesday, shortly after accusing the late officer, Puran Kumar, and his family of corruption.
The cop who died on Tuesday was Sandeep Kumar. He was posted as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Rohtak cyber cell. Sandeep Kumar was reportedly found in a field in Ladoth village with a gunshot wound.
'IPS officer corrupt'
Sandeep allegedly left behind a suicide note and a video, levelling serious allegations against the deceased IPS officer.
Police suspect it to be a suicide case, although details are yet to emerge.
In the suicide note left by the assistant sub-inspector, the late IPS officer was said to be “corrupt” and feared arrest in a corruption complaint against him.
Sandeep alleged that Puran Kumar, in his “final” note, attempted to give his death a caste and political colour.
In the six-minute video, Sandeep claimed that soon after Puran was appointed IGP Rohtak, he handpicked corrupt police personnel from his own caste to be posted at his office and engaged in corruption.
Sandeep alleged that Puran Kumar sexually exploited women police officers by promising transfers. He claimed that this can be confirmed by examining the late IPS officer’s call records.
Sandeep Kumar’s death comes amidst an ongoing probe into the death of 52-year-old IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, who was found dead at his Sector 11 residence in Chandigarh.
Sandeep tied to Puran Kumar
Puran Kumar, in his suicide note, alleged caste-based discrimination, targeted mental harassment, public humiliation and atrocities.
Puran Kumar named 12 to 13 senior officers, including 7 to 8 IPS and 2 IAS officers, in his final note.
According to reports, Sandeep Kumar played a key role in the arrest of Head Constable Sushil Kumar, who identified himself as the Personal Security Officer of Puran Kumar.
Sushil was arrested on October 6, a day before the IPS officer was found dead.
