Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, Indian students in Tehran have been moved out of the city. Of these students, 110 have crossed into Armenia. India’s Ministry of External Affairs said the step was taken for the safety of these students, through arrangements made by the Indian Embassy. The ministry has also urged other Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin to leave Tehran, if they are able to do so using their own resources.
Trump says ‘evacuate Tehran’
India’s advisory comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has called for an immediate evacuation of Tehran. Trump, who cut short his G7 visit reportedly due to a possible US intervention in the Israel-Iran war, wrote on Truth Social, “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
Israel’s latest claim
Israel has claimed it has killed another high-ranking Iranian official, General Ali Shadmani. The Israeli statement described Shadmani as the most senior military commander and the closest figure to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
PM Modi in Canada for G7
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Canada on Monday for the G7 Summit — his first visit to Canada in a decade. Invited by the country’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney, PM Modi said he will highlight the priorities of the Global South during the summit. This marks PM Modi’s sixth consecutive participation in the G7 Summit.

Thug Life: SC slams Karnataka
The Supreme Court on Tuesday criticised the Karnataka government over actor Kamal Haasan’s film Thug Life not being released in the state. The court observed that mobs and vigilantes cannot be allowed to take to the streets. It added that while people may choose not to watch the film if it is screened, audiences cannot be made to fear that theatres will be burnt down. The court also said that if someone has made a statement, it should be countered with another statement, referring to the row over Kamal Haasan’s remarks about the origins of Kannada.

Stock market slips
After starting the week with strong gains, Indian equities slipped on Tuesday. The Sensex fell to around 81,500, while the Nifty moved further away from the 25,000 mark. Market sentiment in India mirrored global caution, with investors jittery over the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
