Israeli strikes kill Iranian intelligence unit chief

Israel and Iran continue to trade heavy fire for a third consecutive day as the conflict between the two countries intensifies.

On Sunday, Iran confirmed that Israeli strikes killed the chief of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps intelligence unit, Mohammad Kazemi.

Whilst Iran says it will not negotiate a ceasefire while under attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says "the issue here is not de-escalation", but stopping Iran from developing its nuclear capability.

Iran's health ministry declared that at least 224 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since Friday, while at least 10 Israelis were killed in Iranian strikes overnight.

Trump vetoes Israel’s plan to kill Iran's Supreme Leader: Reports

Staying with the Israel-Iran conflict, reports suggest that US President Donald Trump rejected a plan by Israel to kill Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Trump has not commented publicly on the report.

Whilst Netanyahu decried that he’s “not going to get into that" but added that "We will do what we need to do and I think the United States knows what is good for the United States”.

3-day G7 meet begins in Canada

Moving on, the three-day G7 meet begins with Canada hosting leaders of Italy, US, France, Germany, UK and Japan.

The Israel-Iran hostilities have at least initially usurped the G7 summit agenda, which had been set to be dominated by disputes over the war in Ukraine and US tariffs.

Macron visits Greenland in show of European unity & signal to Trump

Shifting focus, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Greenland with a “message of solidarity and friendship” from Europe.

Macron though castigated Trump’s repeated threats of annexing the strategic autonomous Danish territory as not “something to be done between allies”.

Macron added that “it’s important to show that Denmark and Europe are committed to this territory, which has very high strategic stakes and whose territorial integrity must be respected”.
