Several Indian celebrities ditched designer ensembles, ultra luxe destinations and lavish guest lists and redefined wedding trends by opting simplicity over the extravagant celebrations often linked to Bollywood weddings.
These intimate ceremonies emphasized personal connections, traditional values, and sustainable choices, resonating deeply with their fans.

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar Yami Gautam

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar Yami Gautam tied the knot with director Aditya Dhar in an intimate ceremony in her native place in Himachal Pradesh. The actress wore her mother’s saree, reflecting a deep respect for her ritual, tradition and personal values. The simple celebration, attended only by close family members, stood as a testament to their humble roots and love for authenticity.

Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi

Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi also chose a private Gurudwara wedding, emphasizing tradition and minimalism. Their union was heartfelt, focusing on the significance of the occasion rather than extravagant displays. Neha’s choice of subtle makeup and traditional attire further underscored the simplicity of their ceremony.

Preity Zinta and Gene Goodenough

Preity Zinta and Gene Goodenough opted for a low-key wedding in Los Angeles. Surrounded by close friends, the couple prioritised privacy and intimacy over a grand event. Their celebration resonated with those who value close-knit gatherings over large-scale productions.

Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi chose an eco-friendly, garden wedding. The actress’s minimalist red saree and the couple’s focus on sustainability showcased their commitment to the environment. They opted for a simple garden wedding and also had a woman priest officiate their wedding.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal

Following the trend in 2024, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal who dated for seven years, chose a close door registry marriage followed by a simple reception later the same day. Sonakshi picked up mom Poonam Sinha's wedding saree for the ceremony. The intricately designed chikanari saree was worn by Poonam in 1980 when she had tied the knot with Shatrughan Sinha.

Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth

Similarly, Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth opted for a traditional yet small-scale wedding in September last year at the historic 400-year-old Sri Ranganayaka Swamy Temple in Wanaparthy, Telangana, which was attended by close friends and family. However, later they also celebrated their union with a second ceremony at the Alila Fort in Bishangarh.

These weddings inspire a growing movement toward intimate, heartfelt ceremonies that prioritise relationships, traditions, and sustainability. This trend resonates deeply with fans, showcasing that even in the world of stardom, love and authenticity take precedence.
