Finally, there might be some relief from the awful traffic between Gurugram, Faridabad, and Noida. A new Namo Bharat rapid rail line is getting ready to go. This fast train should make it possible to travel across the NCR in just one hour, instead of the two to two and a half hours it currently takes on the road.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has finished the plan for the Gurugram–Faridabad–Noida Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) line. It is estimated to cost about ₹15,000 crore. Now that the plan is done, the government nod will give a go ahead on getting bids for the project.
The line will be about 61–65 km long and will connect Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, and Greater Noida. It will also connect to other Namo Bharat lines, like the one to the Ghaziabad–Jewar airport.
The line will start at the IFFCO Chowk Namo Bharat station in Gurugram. Then it will go through Millennium City Centre and Brig. Osman Chowk before heading toward Gwal Pahari and into Faridabad. Some important stations will be IFFCO Chowk and Brig. Osman Chowk in Gurugram, Bata Chowk and Badkhal Enclave in Faridabad, Sector-142 in Noida, and Surajpur junction in Greater Noida.
Surajpur will be a key spot where this line connects to the Ghaziabad and Noida International Airport (Jewar) Namo Bharat lines. This will make it easier for people in the NCR to get to the airport.
The trains can go up to 180 kmph, and they will run often, just like the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat line. This could make the trip from Greater Noida to Gurugram only about 60 minutes, instead of the two to two and a half hours it usually takes to drive during rush hour.
Since this train will be a quicker and easier option than driving on packed roads, lots of people are expected to switch from their cars to public transport.
At first, there will be 10 trains on this line, and each train will have six cars, similar to the current Namo Bharat trains. Each train can carry about 1,928 people, with about 408 seats.
Authorities expect about 3.84 lakh people to ride the train each day by 2031, and over 8.5 lakh people by 2054, as more buildings and homes are built near the stations.
Now that the plan is complete, construction on the Gurugram–Faridabad–Noida Namo Bharat line is expected to begin in December 2026, after the state and central governments approve it. It should take about 4.5 years to build, so hopefully it will be up and running around 2031.
