Sambhal violence and casualties
The violence erupted during a court-ordered survey of the mosque, resulting in the deaths of four people. Moradabad Police Commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh had earlier confirmed that an FIR was registered against Barq and a local MLA’s son for their alleged involvement.
FIRs against 800 people
Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi stated that an FIR was filed against 800 people, based on a complaint by injured sub-inspector Deepak Rathi. Barq and Sohail Iqbal were accused of instigating the mob. Barq had previously received warnings for making provocative speeches.
MP calls violence ‘pre-planned’
Barq termed the incident as "pre-planned" and alleged that Muslims were being targeted. He questioned the necessity of a second survey at the mosque, claiming that the Places of Worship Act was being violated. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have warned of strict action, including the possible imposition of the National Security Act (NSA).
