A day after the Supreme Court rebuked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his comments in the context of the India-China clashes, his sister Priyanka Gandhi has jumped to the Amethi MP’s defence.

Priyanka, who herself is an MP from Wayanad in Kerala, told ANI, and I quote, “With due respect to the honourable judges, they do not decide who a true Indian is. It is the duty of the Leader of the Opposition to question the government,” end quote.

She added that her brother would never speak against the Army, and that he holds them in the highest regard.

Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance on cards

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has said that the Uddhav Thackeray-led party and Raj Thackeray’s MNS will surely contest the civic polls in Maharashtra together. Raut added that both Thackerays will come together and discuss the plan.

The confirmation comes weeks after Uddhav Thackeray himself hinted at it, when the estranged cousins shared a stage after over a decade. Later, Raj Thackeray also visited Uddhav’s residence, Matoshree, to wish him on his birthday.

The elections to the BMC in Mumbai and other municipal corporations are expected in the coming months.

Youth special bus in Delhi

Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced the relaunch of the youth special bus service around the Delhi University campus.

The Delhi CM made the announcement while addressing students at the inauguration of the new academic block at DU’s Social Centre School.

Calling this her gift to students, Gupta also recalled how, when she was a DU student, there used to be a youth special bus service for university students.

Night-shifts for women allowed

The Odisha government has allowed women to work night shifts in factories, shops, and other commercial establishments. The Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department has issued a detailed guideline to this effect.

According to the notification, written consent is mandatory from women working night shifts. Also, at least three women employees must be present during the shift, and the employer must arrange transportation facilities with GPS tracking.

Anil Ambani appears before ED

Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi on Tuesday. Ambani had been summoned by the investigative agency for questioning in a money laundering probe.

The matter is linked to several alleged bank loan fraud cases worth crores of rupees involving Reliance Group companies.

Equities lose steam

After starting the week on a strong note, Indian equities lost steam on Tuesday. The Sensex gave up Monday’s gains to end well below 81,000. The Nifty also slipped further away from the 25,000 mark.
