Kim Kardashian just launched a Faux pubic hair underwear, and the internet cannot have enough. Her latest SKIMS drop — the Faux Hair Micro String Thong — might just be her most controversial yet.

Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like: underwear with fake pubic hair. Wild? Maybe. But is this a genius marketing gimmick?

Kim Kardashian’s latest launch leaves the internet shocked

Kim Kardashian just pulled out the most mind-boggling addition to her underwear range, and netizens are amused. The product description reads, “With this iconic new panty, your carpet can be whatever colour you want it to be.”

Priced at $32, these thongs come in 12 different colours. There are a variety of options, including Clay Ginger Straight, Sienna Brown Curly, Cocoa Black Curly and more. In India, you can buy these thongs for ₹3,100. There’s currently a waitlist on the SKIMS website for the “fake pubic hair” thongs.

When Kim K revealed she has no hair on her body

Back in 2010, Kim told Allure magazine that she’s “hair-free everywhere,” reflecting an era obsessed with smooth, waxed perfection. Fast-forward to 2025, and she’s selling faux pubic hair as fashion. It’s a move that raises eyebrows but also highlights how body trends evolve with time.

The history of the pubic hair wig aka merkins

Merkins, or artificial pubic wigs, have been around since the fifteenth century. They were used by sex workers for pragmatic purposes, such as preventing lice and hiding disease symptoms after shaving.

According to reports, sex workers would use merkins to create various looks for clients, while some wealthy people wore them to demonstrate that they were wealthy enough to keep their pubic hair in place.

These tiny wigs eventually found their way into theatre and costume, before vanishing into the annals of bizarre history—until now.

By reviving the merkin, Kim might be reintroducing a centuries-old artefact into mainstream fashion.

Is this genius marketing or a feminist statement?

So, what exactly is this launch? Another brilliant brand awareness move, or a daring feminist statement? Perhaps both. From shapewear that accentuates curves to viral campaigns that use unusual textures, colours, and now follicles, SKIMS has made pushing boundaries a core part of its brand.

Whether you find it absurd or empowering, there’s no denying one thing: Kim Kardashian knows how to start a conversation.

So tell us, would you buy a faux pubic hair underwear or is it a bit too much?
