With just weeks left for the Bihar assembly polls to commence, the opposition INDIA bloc is struggling to finalise a seat-sharing deal.
High drama was witnessed in the RJD camp on Monday night when the candidates who got the party tickets were asked to return them.
According to PTI news agency, RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav distributed the poll tickets to the candidates he favoured.
This was done even before concluding the seat-sharing deal with the other coalition members of the INDIA bloc.
Rift between Lalu and Tejashwi
According to reports, Lalu’s son Tejashwi had to step in well past midnight, and stop the distribution. He also asked the leaders to return tickets already handed out.
PTI, quoting sources, reported that Tejashwi was upset with his father and expressed his displeasure.
He is said to have told Lalu that videos and photographs of candidates with the party symbol were doing the rounds, and added that it might harm negotiations with the alliance partners.
Seat-sharing pact
The development comes a day after Tejashwi met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to discuss a seat-sharing arrangement.
Bihar assembly polls are slated to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, and the counting of votes will be conducted on November 14.
