Meta’s AI-powered Ray-Ban smart glasses are getting ready to land in India, and they might just be the coolest wearable you didn’t know you needed. After a global rollout across select countries last year, Meta has now confirmed that India is part of the next wave — alongside Mexico and the UAE — to get these next-gen glasses made in partnership with EssilorLuxottica.
These aren't just a fashion flex. The Ray-Ban Meta glasses are smart enough to do your digital bidding hands-free. Want to send a message, ask a question, control your playlist or even translate a different language on the go? Just say “Hey Meta,” and your shades are on it.
They’re also loaded with a built-in camera and speakers, so you can take photos, record videos, answer calls, and even video chat on WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger — all without touching your phone.
First launched in September 2023 as a follow-up to the Ray-Ban Stories (remember those from 2021?), this updated version comes with improved sound, sleeker design, and smarter AI chops. They look like your classic Ray-Bans, but secretly carry some serious smart tech — kind of like Clark Kent.
The standout feature has to be the real-time voice translation. The glasses can translate between English, French, Spanish, and Italian — and even do it offline if you’ve got the language packs downloaded. It plays the translation straight into your ears and shows a transcript on your phone. Travellers and polyglots, rejoice.
Music enthusiasts aren’t left out either. The Ray-Ban Meta glasses support Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and even Shazam. Want to play a track, skip, or ID a song at a café? Just ask. Oh, and Instagram power users — you can now DM and make calls directly through the app too.
And in some countries, Meta is testing a next-level feature where the glasses can “see” what you’re seeing and respond naturally, no “Hey Meta” needed. It’s like your shades actually have eyes. No word yet on whether that feature’s coming to India, but fingers crossed.
There’s no official price tag or launch date for India just yet, but the announcement alone has created buzz. Stay tuned, because when these AI-powered shades finally drop, they might just change the wearable game here too.
