Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the Parliament’s Monsoon Session was like a ‘Vijay Utsav’ — a celebration of the victory of Operation Sindoor. Speaking to media persons, PM Modi added that the Indian armed forces achieved 100 per cent of their objectives during the mission. India had launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.

Rahul Gandhi’s protest

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that, as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, it is his right to speak in the House. However, Gandhi added that he was not allowed to do so, even as members of the ruling coalition were allowed to make their statements. The Congress leader has made similar claims in the past also.

Aviation Minister on AI-171 crash

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu has said the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is "totally unbiased." Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, the minister added that the AAIB is conducting a definitive and thorough, rule-based investigation to determine exactly what led to the Air India crash. He also said the government wants to stand by the truth, and not take sides with any stakeholder.

Bombay HC’s 7/11 verdict

Nineteen years after the 7/11 Mumbai train blasts that killed over 180 people, the Bombay High Court has acquitted all 12 accused in the case. A special bench of Justices Anil Kilor and Shyam Chandak delivered the judgment on Monday, stating that the prosecution had failed to prove the case against the accused. The court also observed that it was hard to believe the accused had committed the crime.

Weak start, positive close

Indian equities bounced back after falling in early trade. The recovery was driven by buying in ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank, following their strong quarterly results. The Sensex ended the day above 82,000. The Nifty also closed above 25,000.
