5 days after terrorists slayed 26 tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, India’s National Investigation Agency has taken over the case from local authorities. The NIA registered a fresh FIR late on Saturday following an order issued from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Staying with Pahalgam, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have demolished the houses of three suspected active terrorists in Bandipora, Pulwama, and Shopian districts. The demolitions, part of an ongoing crackdown on the terror ecosystem, brings the total number of houses razed to nine since the terror attack on April 22.
Meanwhile, India’s armed forces have indicated their readiness for any eventuality. In a video posted on X, The Indian Navy showcased its readiness for long-range precision offensive strikes to protect the nation’s maritime interests.
In international news, at least 11 people were killed after a suspected car ramming attack in the Canadian city of Vancouver. The attack took place at approximately 8 PM local time on Saturday at the Lapu Lapu festival which celebrates Filipino culture. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old male was apprehended by bystanders, and then taken into custody by police officers. An investigation into the attack has been launched.
