Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed Operation Sindoor as a major turning point in India’s fight against terrorism, calling it a "new benchmark" and a "new normal" in national security strategy.

Addressing the nation, PM Modi compared Operation Sindoor to India’s previous military actions—the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot air strikes. He said that after these two decisive responses, Operation Sindoor now defines India’s policy against terrorism.

The operation was launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. As part of Operation Sindoor, Indian forces carried out precision strikes on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Modi stated that India’s Army, Air Force, Navy, BSF, and paramilitary forces are always prepared to counter terror threats. “This operation sends a clear message—if India is attacked, a fitting response will follow, on our terms. We will strike at the root of terrorism,” he said.

He also warned against nuclear blackmail, adding that India would respond with precision and decisiveness against threats shielded by such tactics.

The PM criticised Pakistan’s continued support to terrorism, revealing that senior Pakistani army officers had attended funerals of slain terrorists, confirming state-sponsored terror. Modi said India had exposed and defeated Pakistan again—this time through New Age Warfare, including the effective use of indigenously built weapons.

Over 100 terrorists were eliminated in the operation, including high-profile leaders who had long conspired against India from Pakistani soil. Indian strikes also hit military airbases in Pakistan as part of the broader response.

Highlighting India’s stance on diplomacy, PM Modi said, “Terror and talks cannot go together. Water and blood cannot flow together. Talks with Pakistan will only happen on terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.”

Operation Sindoor, he said, reflects the nation’s collective resolve and is a clear signal of zero tolerance for terror.
