The Delhi Police on Monday detained Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with other leaders of the INDIA bloc, as the opposition took to the streets against the Election Commission.

The leaders were marching from Parliament to the Commission’s office to protest against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. They’ve also been alleging “voter fraud” in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to the media after being detained, Rahul Gandhi said the opposition was fighting to save the constitution.

EC dares Rahul Gandhi

These protests come just a day after the Election Commission accused Gandhi of misleading citizens. The poll body dared him to file a signed affidavit with his claims if he truly believed them. Otherwise, the poll body said, he should apologise to the nation.

Munir’s nuclear threat

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has issued a nuclear threat against India while speaking in the United States. Addressing an event in Florida, Munir said that if Pakistan goes down, it will “take half the world down with it.”

While making the remark, he drew what he himself called a “crude analogy” between India and Pakistan, likening India to a shiny Mercedes, and Pakistan to a “dump truck full of gravel.” He then asked, “If the truck hits the car, who’s really going to be the loser?”

SC’s stray dogs verdict

In a verdict that could have far-reaching consequences, the Supreme Court of India has directed Delhi authorities to keep stray dogs in shelters rather than releasing them onto streets, colonies, or public places.

The apex court also said shelters must have enough personnel to sterilise and immunise the animals.

Warning against obstruction, the court stated that any person or organisation standing in the way of stray dog removal will face action. The court further ordered the creation of a helpline within a week so all dog bite cases can be reported.

Tesla drives in to Delhi

After its Mumbai debut, Tesla has opened its second Indian showroom in Delhi’s Aerocity. Spread over 8,200 square feet, the space will serve as Tesla’s base in the National Capital Region.

Located near the airport and in close proximity to embassies and corporate offices, the new experience centre is positioned to reach exactly the kind of audience Tesla is targeting.

Dalal Street surges

Indian equities shook off last week’s sluggishness to open the week on a high. The Sensex gained around a per cent, closing above 80,500. The Nifty also rebounded to end the day above 24,500.
