The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad. He was arrested over allegedly offensive social media posts related to Operation Sindoor. While granting bail, the court refused to stay the ongoing investigation. Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotisar Singh also questioned the professor’s choice of words, observing they were deliberately used to humiliate and insult others.

Cash Row: SC Declines To Hear Plea

The Supreme Court has declined to hear a plea seeking an FIR against Justice Yashwant Varma in the cash discovery controversy. Justices Abhay S. Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan noted that after an in-house inquiry panel indicted Varma, former CJI Sanjiv Khanna urged him to resign. The former Chief Justice also wrote to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Varma refused to step down.

Naxalites Killed In Bastar

In Chhattisgarh, at least 27 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bastar. Official sources, quoted by PTI, say top Maoist leader Basavaraju, general secretary of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), was among the deceased. A member of the District Reserve Guard, part of the state police, also lost his life in the operation.

India Better Positioned: Moody’s

Moody’s has said India is better positioned than other emerging markets to handle the impact of US tariffs and global trade disruptions. The agency credits India’s strong domestic growth drivers and low dependence on goods exports for this resilience.

Morgan Stanley Ups India GDP Forecast

Morgan Stanley has raised India’s GDP growth forecast for the current financial year to 6.2% from 6.1%. The global financial services firm has also revised its forecast for the next fiscal year to 6.5%, up from 6.3%.

Stock Market Closes Higher

After two days in the red, Indian equities bounced back on Wednesday. The Sensex gained around half a percent, adding 400 points, while the Nifty rose by over 100 points.

Indigo’s New Flights

IndiGo will start direct flights from Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam from July. The airline said in a press release that the Mumbai-Manchester flight will commence from July 1, and the Mumbai-Amsterdam service from July 2, both operated thrice weekly.
