Speaking at the CPP General Body meeting, She stated, “The Bill is a brazen assault on the Constitution itself. It is very much part of the BJP’s deliberate strategy to keep our society in a state of permanent polarisation.”
The bill was passed after a marathon debate, with the Congress and the broader opposition INDIA bloc strongly opposing it.

Opposition protests and rejected amendments
During the discussions, opposition leaders proposed several amendments, which were ultimately voted down. Speaker Om Birla announced the final division of votes, stating, “Subject to correction, Ayes 288, Noes 232. The majority is in favour of the proposal.”
JPC recommendations incorporated
The revised bill included recommendations from the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), which had examined it after its introduction in August last year. The bill’s passage marks a key milestone in the government’s legislative agenda, despite strong resistance from the opposition.
