Trump ousts Waltz

In the first major shakeup of his second term, US President Donald Trump has ousted National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. In a social media post, Trump thanked him for his service and said that he will be nominating Waltz as ambassador to the United Nations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will temporarily replace Waltz whilst continuing as America's top diplomat.

Speculation was rife about Waltz losing his job given his role in mistakenly adding a journalist to a Signal chat group where details of US military attacks were shared.

“Trump administration exceeded the statutory boundaries”

Staying with Trump, in a first-of-its-kind decision, a US district judge issued a permanent injunction barring Trump’s administration from using the contentious Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport Venezuelans from South Texas.

In his 36-page decision, US District Court Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr ruled that the Trump administration had “exceeded the statutory boundaries” of the Alien Enemies Act, a wartime law. Thursday’s ruling is likely to be swiftly appealed.

Amit Shah’s “chun chun ke” warning

Union Home Minister Amit Shah at an event in the capital warned terrorists that India will ensure justice for the killing of 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.

Addressing the terrorists, the Home Minister said, “ this is not the end of this fight” and that “ everyone will be given a befitting reply”.

The Home Minister’s warning were his first public comments on the terror attack and said the worst is yet to come for the terrorists.

Pre-dawn thunderstorm hits Delhi-NCR

Staying with the capital, Delhi-NCR residents were woken up on account of thunderstorms early this Friday morning, with waterlogging reported in some areas. The IMD had forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the next three days, issuing a yellow alert for the national capital - which may go some way in easing the heatwave conditions.

Man United & Spurs win in Europe

To the world of sports now, English club Manchester United beat Spanish side Athletic Club 3 - 0 away in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League Semi Finals. Elsewhere fellow English side Tottenham Hotspurs beat Norwegian side Bodo 3-1 in their semi-final match.

Table-topping Mumbai Indians win six-in-a-row

And in the IPL, Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs after blistering knocks from Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma and captain Hardik Pandya.

The win, a sixth in a row, has propelled MI to the top of the IPL table, capping a remarkable turnaround. MI were rooted to the bottom after the opening couple of matches.
