As Team India landed in Canberra, the buzz wasn’t just about the playing XI or match strategies - it was about a moment at the nets that had everyone talking.

Shubman Gill, the elegant top-order batter and Test & ODI captain, may not wear the captain’s armband in T20s, but he’s clearly leading in other ways. During an intense net session, Gill was spotted doing something unexpected: giving one-on-one batting tips to young pacer Harshit Rana.

Rana, who's been turning heads with his all-round potential, especially as a late-order hitter, was working hard on his batting. And right beside him? Shubman Gill - done with his own session, stood next to Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav, offering real-time advice. Footwork, shot selection, balance - Gill was breaking it all down like a batting coach.

It was more than just mentorship, it was intent. A glimpse of the leadership mindset Gill carries, showing he's always game to lift his teammates, whether he's the official captain or not.

Elsewhere in the nets, the vibe was electric. Rinku Singh and Kuldeep Yadav - Uttar Pradesh’s own duo, were sharing laughs and reverse sweeps, teasing each other mid-session. Suryakumar and Gambhir were all smiles watching the action unfold, giving the session an almost festival-like energy.

And if you were lucky enough to be in Canberra today? You didn’t need a pass or a VIP badge. Indian fans could watch their heroes - Shubman, Rinku, Surya, Axar, and more, just meters away, smashing volleys and soaking in the calm before the storm.
