As US Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance begin their official 4-day visit to India, the small village of Vadluru in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district is filled with excitement and anticipation. Vadluru holds deep personal significance for the Second Lady of the United States, as it is her ancestral village. Locals in the village are eager to welcome the Vance family, with high hopes that they will visit.
Usha Vance, born Usha Chilukuri, is the daughter of Indian immigrants raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated with a degree in History from Yale University, later earning a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. Usha then pursued law at Yale, where she met her husband, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. Throughout her career, she has been involved in various sectors, including nonprofit work and legal advocacy.
Arrival in India and Warm Welcome
Usha Vance, along with her husband, US Vice President JD Vance, and their children, arrived in India for a four-day official visit. The family was received with warmth at Palam Airport in Delhi by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Following their arrival, Vice President Vance was honored with a ceremonial Guard of Honour, a symbolic gesture marking the beginning of their visit.
Vance Family Visits Akshardham Temple in Delhi
The Vice President’s family also visited Delhi’s Akshardham Temple as part of their ongoing official visit to India. Dressed in traditional Indian attire, the family explored the temple’s intricate carvings, spiritual exhibits, and the main sanctum dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
Akshardham Temple is known for its grand architecture, cultural displays, and musical fountain show. Temple spokesperson Radhika Shukla shared, “A souvenir was given to them so that their unforgettable memories remain forever. When he was having a darshan at Akshardham Temple, he really liked the artwork, the messages given here and the cultural carvings here. His children also enjoyed it a lot. They experienced the culture and tradition of our country.”
