With the successful launch of the Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission, taking Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, to the International Space Station, India returns to space after a hiatus of 41 years! Before Shubhanshu, Rakesh Sharma, a former Indian Air Force officer, was the only Indian to have gone into space.
The four member team of Ax-4 is led by space veteran and former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson with Shubhanshu Shukla representing ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), and mission specialists Sławosz Uznański from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary representing ESA (European Space Agency).
