Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma briefly vanished from ICC ODI rankings due to a technical glitch, sparking fan panic. ICC clarified and restored them, with Rohit at No.2 and Virat at No.4. India now boasts 4 batters in the top 10, led by Shubman Gill at No.1, while Shreyas Iyer holds the 6th spot.

Breaking news that gave fans a mini heart attack: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had temporarily vanished from the ICC ODI Rankings for batters on Wednesday. But they are now back on the list.

ICC clarified that it happened due to a technical glitch and it wasn’t a deliberate exclusion of the two cricketers. "A number of issues in this week's rankings are currently being investigated," the ICC told Wisden.

But the question is - why only Virat and Rohit? There were others like Shubman Gill and Babar Azam on that list as well. Yet somehow, when you exclude these two legendary cricketers, especially when they’ve already retired from Tests and T20Is, it does raise a few eyebrows.

But, better late than never. ICC accepted its mistake both our favourite cricketers are back. With Rohit flexing at number 2 and Virat chilling at number 4, the scoreboard is looking very Indian. That’s 4 Indians in the top 10. No other team has more than 1.

While Gill leads the ODI charts, retaining his position as the top batter in the format with 756 points, Iyer was at the 6th spot.

Both Rohit and Virat last played an ODI for India back in February 2025, when the Men in Blue won the Champions Trophy under the Hitman. But there have been dark clouds over their future, with talks of the duo retiring doing the rounds. However, fans are still hopeful.
