As for LSG, this loss won’t shake their resolve. They’ve got the firepower, the talent, and the mentality to bounce back. Pooran & Co. Have shown they can play the game hard, and with a home game against the Mumbai Indians coming up, they’ll be looking to regroup and turn things around.
IPL 2025 served up another unforgettable contest as the Punjab Kings stormed through to a comprehensive victory against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium. The 172-run target never really seemed daunting, as Punjab made light work of it. But make no mistake, LSG may have lost, but they showcased plenty of fight in the process.
The LSG Batting Blues: Early Setbacks Hit Hard
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants didn’t quite get the dream start they were hoping for. Losing key players—Marsh, Markram, and captain Pant—before the end of the powerplay left them scrambling. A rocky start is never ideal, and this one certainly hurt. But the fight wasn’t over yet! Despite the early setbacks, Nicholas Pooran stepped in, doing what he does best—smashing a much-needed 44. Alongside him, Badoni worked his magic with a 41, giving LSG a glimmer of hope. But timely breakthroughs from Punjab’s bowlers meant that LSG could only muster 171/7.
Punjab Kings Turn the Heat Up
Now, if you thought that was the end of the story, you’ve got it all wrong. Punjab Kings came to the chase with a swagger that left LSG’s bowlers gasping for air. Prabhsimran Singh hit the fastest IPL fifty at Ekana, taking just 23 balls to get there. Punjab never really looked in any sort of trouble. And then came Shreyas Iyer, who was like the calm in the storm, knocking out a brilliant fifty off 30 balls. Between these two, Punjab were cruising ahead of the required target. Even as Prabhsimran was dismissed for a blazing 69, Nehal Wadhera took charge and finished with an unbeaten 43, leading Punjab to an easy win with over 3 overs to spare.
Punjab Kings: Rising with Momentum

With this dominant win, Punjab Kings sit pretty at second place on the points table, and it's only the fourth time in their history that they’ve won their opening two games. The confidence is palpable, and the fans are loving it. They're a team that backs themselves, plays aggressive cricket, and right now, they look like a serious contender.
