OnePlus is all set to launch its flagship for 2025 pretty soon, so much so that there is quite a buzz for the OnePlus 15, especially on platforms like Weibo and X. The company has already revealed most of the key specifications of the device.
But if that wasn’t enough, it’s also teasing a second phone that’ll share the stage, the OnePlus Ace 6, or as it’ll likely be called globally, the OnePlus 15R.
OnePlus’ President Louis Lee confirmed on Weibo that both phones will launch together on October 27. That’s the Chinese launch date, of course. The global rollout hasn’t been announced yet. But insiders say this time, the international release won’t be far behind.
OnePlus 15 key details
The OnePlus 15 is shaping up to be a serious powerhouse. Lee had earlier confirmed that the OnePlus 15 will feature BOE’s new X3 Oriental display which comes with an impressive 165Hz refresh rate.
That’s considerably faster than what most flagships or even full-fledged gaming phones have to offer right now, so we can expect smoother animations, top-notch gaming experience, and an overall snappier experience.
Under the hood, we will be seeing Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which should mean significantly better performance, improved efficiency, and a noticeable boost in on-device AI capabilities.
OnePlus 15R, the new budget powerhouse
The OnePlus Ace 6 or the 15R as it’s likely to called globally, might not be a full-fledged flagship, but it’s no lightweight either.
While OnePlus hasn’t officially detailed the specs, leaks suggest some seriously competitive hardware a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. It’s also rumoured to pack a massive 7800mAh battery, and certification listings confirm that it will get 120W fast charging support.
From the images shared by Lee, the 15R ditches the circular camera housing of the OnePlus 13R in favour of a more square-ish camera module with a pill-shaped camera stack. It also looks like it features a dual rear camera setup, which indicates that the telephoto lens has been dropped in all likelihood. The image shows a silver finish, while black and white options are also expected.
Global launch of the OnePlus 15R
This has been OnePlus’s classic playbook for years, now. The Ace 6 will be renamed as the 15R for the international markets. We saw the Ace 5 follow a similar route last year as the OnePlus 13R, so it’s likely that history will repeat itself. There’s no confirmed global timeline yet, but we should be hearing more about it soon.
As for pricing, we should be seeing some marginal jumps from the launch prices of the OnePlus 13 and the 13R, mainly due to global tariffs and increasing BoM associated with smartphone manufacturing these days. Of course, all of this is based on leaks, and it would be best, if it is taken with a pinch of salt.
